Great! Here we go!
The very first thing I would like to note is that the real estate business is a local one. The items reported on the news tend to be general, for the whole nation. As Gary Keller said yesterday, what good would it do us to know that the current average temperature at in the U.S. is 68 degrees? Is that a reflection on our current condition here? No! Call a local realtor to get the facts on the real estate market for your NEIGHBORHOOD! In may or may not be a reflection of the next neighborhood over.

Well spoken Ron. That’s why it is crucial for you, as a consumer, to rely on a respected “local economist” to assist you in determing the “true” value of the home you are either selling, if any, or purchasing. Local real estate professionals (agents) whom pride themselves on being educated on current stats & trends, affordability factors affecting housing, LOCAL unemployment figures & general volatility figures for their specific market are worth their weight in gold. Years ago real estate agents were considered a dime a dozen and considered lower than the “used car salesman” (not that I have anything against used car salesmen); however, dedicated real estate professionals have emerged and are earning their keep while the others are being weeded out. Good things are definitely to come from all of this.
